Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards

The Women’s Opportunity Awards program is Soroptimist’s major project. Through the program, clubs in 19 countries and territories assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Each year, more than $1 million is disbursed through cash awards at various levels of the organization. Recipients, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol abuse, may use the awards to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare and transportation.

Since the Women’s Opportunity Awards program began in 1972, about $25 million has been disbursed to help tens of thousands of women achieve their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families.

I am a woman of physical and emotional abuse by men. I now know, if I am going to see another man, I will allow myself, to check for his criminal background, ask to meet his parents before getting to “know” about him. My life is worth more at a being a single mother than any car, money, controlled substance abuse, drugs/alcohol. I am at risk of losing my state approved financial home, my children reunification, and looking at homelessness again. I have chosen to return to school to stay in recovery in soberiety and being abused. Do you have any scholarships available?

I will be starting my studies for Medical Lab Technician at Intellitec in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 6, 2009. I have a Pell Grant of $5350.00, however the total tuition is $22000.00. I am looking (graciously) for a scholarship to cover the balance. I will complete whatever action you require in order to be considered for receipt.
    Respectfully, Linda C. Warner

I am attending Colorado Technical University on-line and am taking an Associates of Science degree in Health administration. My GPA is 3.74, I get mostly A’s and some B’s. I am having a hard time trying to keep my head above water, and keep my internet service on. It is very important because I am taking an on-line course to better my life. Please let me know how to apply for a scholarship. Thank you, Marion Taylor
