Scholarships For Women Age 35 and Older

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for, and awarding scholarships to, low-income women, ages 35 and older. Each scholarship recipient has a vision of how a college education will benefit herself, her family, and her community. Most recipients are in truly meager financial circumstances and may have other hardships or disabilities.

From one $500 scholarship in 1978 to 80 scholarships in 2007, JRF has awarded over $1 million in financial aid to more than 500 US women.

I am currently attending at Bevill state Community College in Hamilton, AL. I am looking for a scholarship for the summer semester in order to graduate with an Associate of Science in Paralegal degree. I have been attending on a Federal Pell Frant and unfortunately they do not awards such grants for the summer semester. The classes that i need in order to graduate are only offered during specific time of the year, being the summer semester. In this time of economy crisis I am not able to afford the cost of theses classes. My husband has also started to attend the school in order to recieve a nursing degree since his work slowed to the point of barely affording our monthly bills. I would love to learn about the grants and scholarship available to me. Thank you, Angelina Gardner

Many of us get confused and spend most of the time finding out whether we are eligible for a particular scholarship or a grant. Women, in general have lesser time to explore these facts, as they are burdened with loads of responsibilities including household, work, social aspects and personal life. All these obligations leave little or no time for her to explore the avenues for scholarships for women.
